This was the first of many European Union Film Festivals to come. England, France and Germany sent films to entertain the Bruneian public. The event was launched at the Sheraton Utama by HRH Prince Qawi and held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Theatre.
In order to attract the target audience of both local Bruneians and the expatriate community a balance of east and west was required. The brief also stipulated that the project be developed solely with client supplied materials and be easily reproduced across a variety of media.
A primary challenge was utilizing diverse materials from the various sponsor countries. These included 12' movie posters down to small low-resolution photos.
There are those times when trials turn into triumphs. A piece of artwork did not arrive from Germany in time. Katz-i International Web & Graphic Design was able to take a screenshot of the art off a computer monitor to use in the original's place. The screenshot produced a unique, rustic atmosphere that was used as a core element throughout the promotional materials, delighting the client.

The colours, as seen above, were chosen for their contrasting strength and vibrancy. Several sponsor logos were to be included. To level the field, the marks were placed against a black background.
Client's comments: I have known Katz-i International Web & Graphic Design since shortly after my arrival in Brunei in 2003. I have been working closely with them on several cultural promotions such as the French Film Festival, music concerts and the circus show. I have been highly impressed by their design capabilities, their helpful and positive attitude and their professionalism.
Their creative and artistic flair has been highly appreciated by both Alliance Francaise and the public. I wish them every success.
