Pro-bono project.
Katz-i started sponsoring the Brunei Music Society from early 2000. The majority of the designs are created using low resolution photos supplied by the performers. The turn-around time is typically tight, usually one day to one week. Occasionally more time is given, and fortunately this was one of those times. With a bit more breathing room, the unique illustration style shown to the right was created.
Katz's distinct style resulted in the poster being included in the book 'Savvy Designers Guide To Success' by logo designer Jeff Fisher.

A preliminary pencil sketch was emailed to the client for review. After some discussion, it was agreed to modify the female forms to better align with cultural sensitivities. A walk-around with a digital camera provided the ingredients for the clothing patterns and typographic fills. The finished work was created with both digitally drawn forms and photography, blending pieces together for a pleasing balance.
